Why People Notice Your Energy Shift Before You Do
There’s a moment I hear about again and again from clients. Not during the session itself, but the day after.
They go back to their normal life, to work, to the school run, to the supermarket, and someone stops them. A colleague, a friend, a partner. And they say something like: “You look different. What’s changed?”
Nothing has changed, on the surface. Same clothes. Same routine. Same life.
And yet something is unmistakably, visibly different.
This is what happens when your nervous system gets the reset it’s been quietly begging for.
The body holds everything
We live in a culture that prioritises the mind. When we’re struggling, we’re encouraged to talk about it, to analyse it, to understand it intellectually. And there’s enormous value in that.
But the body holds the score.
Stress, trauma, overwhelm, burnout. These don’t just live in our thoughts. They live in our tissues, our posture, our breath, our nervous system. And no amount of talking will fully release what the body is still carrying.
This is why so many women come to me after years of therapy, having understood their story completely but still not feeling free from it. Still tense. Still exhausted. Still stuck in survival mode.
Because healing the mind is one part of the picture. Healing the body is another.
What nervous system healing actually does
When I work with clients, whether that’s through sound therapy, SMRT (Somatic Memory Repatterning Technique), reiki, crystal healing or intuitive energy work, the goal is always the same. To help your nervous system find its way out of the survival state it’s been locked in, often for years.
The nervous system doesn’t switch off stress because you’ve decided to relax. It switches off when it feels genuinely safe. And for many women, that feeling of real safety is something they haven’t experienced in their body for a very long time.
When it does happen, when your system finally exhales, the shift is remarkable.
And it shows up everywhere.
The visible signs of a nervous system reset
Your posture softens. The tension you’ve been carrying in your shoulders, your jaw, your chest releases. Your body stops bracing.
Your face relaxes. The micro-tension that lives around the eyes and mouth when we’re in survival mode softens. People often say clients look younger, or lighter, or more like themselves.
Your breath deepens. Instead of the shallow, chest-held breathing of stress, you start to breathe from your belly again. That simple shift changes your entire physiology.
Your eyes brighten. There’s a quality of presence that returns. A groundedness. A being-here-ness that was missing when you were running on empty.
Your whole energy changes. And this is the part that’s harder to quantify but impossible to miss. The people around you feel it before you’ve said a word.
Why others notice before you do
One of the most touching things about this work is that clients often don’t fully notice their own shift at first. They’re so used to how they felt before that they don’t have an accurate comparison point in the moment.
But the people around them do.
A colleague who says “you seem so calm today.” A partner who says “you feel different.” A friend who says “I don’t know what you’ve done but whatever it is, keep doing it.”
That external reflection is often what makes it real for a client. It confirms what they felt in the session, that something has genuinely changed. Not just temporarily. At a deeper level.
